Media Invite: Food Tasting at Palette

With the dearth of foodcourts in the Cityhall precinct, we were really excited with the opening of Palette at the newly restored Piazzo, the shopping atrium of the grand Capitol Cinema.
A new bar-restaurant-foodcourt concept by the Breadtalk group, this is probably the one and only of its kind to open in Singapore. Like a food court, you get to walk around the different stalls and see how the food is prepared before using the tablet to place your order, like what you will see in Japanese style family restaurants. Food is delivered to your table and payment is made upon exiting the establishment.

Thirsty Craft Beer Shop at Tiong Bahru

Located at the building just behind Link Hotel, I found this awesome bar that sells more than 100 kinds of beer. Adjoining to Tiong Bahru Bar (TBB), this is the third outlet of Thirsty Craft Beer Shop. Collaborated with TBB, you can enjoy the crafted beer with food served at TBB.

TomorrowFree Kafe near Tai Seng MRT

Despite having a variety of cuisines available in Singapore, local delights always have a place in my heart. To me, they are my staples, my comfort. However, it is also not easy to find a place that sell all kinds of local delights under one roof. Good news for me and peeps working around Tai Seng precinct, TomorrowFree Kafei is one such place. A traditional home style cafe that sells local delights.

Beat the heat with F&N NutriTea!

When I was a kid, my mother would always brew some barley or water chestnut with sugar cane for me and my siblings. Drinks like this always prevent me from falling sick no matter how terrible the weather was. As I grow up, mum has kinda "retired" but J would always "make" some "liang teh" aka traditional cooling tea for me from any supermarket nearby. I remember being skeptical with "packed" barley as the taste would be too sweet and the cooling properties would generally be compromised (This is purely based on my own impression).

The Holqa Cafe - where passion links people up

There are no lack of cafes in Singapore but how often do you find a quaint cafe that is run by passionate youngsters who are still studying? Mind you, they are young but the food served is definitely not sub-standard. Located along the stretch at Katong, this cafe is often missed by people due to the lack of a prominent frontage. However if you look close enough, it is just located very near to a bus stop.

GO60 MLD Facial Blogger Event

Ever encounter facials and slimming treatments that cost a bomb and you have to sign package to get good deals? I hereby introduce you the Go60 where you don't need to sign any form of commitment and no hidden cost or whatsoever but still be able to enjoy facials and/or slimming treatment services at just SGD$60 nett!! Meaning to say you get to enjoy 1 minute of pampering at just SGD$1! Value for money lehhh!! haha
Here are the various kinds of treatment services that Go60 provides!
I am especially intrigued by the GO Bye Bye Panda Eyes facial treatment as I've got really serious dark eye circle problem which doesn't go away even with ample amount of sleep.
However, today I will be introducing you guys the new Most Advanced Hydrating Facial Treatment from Go60 which includes a Seven-step Spanish Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage technique on top of all the other moisturizing goodness from the MU Essential Treatment Series!!
The MU Essential Treatment Series follows a daily routine that includes: Essential cleanse, Enzyme Peel, Essential toning lotion spray, Essential serum, customized mask, as well as an essential moisturizer & UV defence mist spray.
Before I start talking about MLD massage, do you know what is our lymphatic system about? :)

The first thing you need to know is Lymph. Lymph is a fluid in our body that contains white blood cells which play a vital role in our immune system.
It is being transported on Lymph vessels (which are similar to our body blood veins) throughout our body and these Lymph Vessels are connected to lymph nodes where they serve as filters for the Lymph to get rid of all the toxins, body waste and other unwanted materials in our body. This entire process is called the lymphatic system.
But sometimes, what if our lymphatic system flows too slowly?? Toxins will get stuck in our body lohh!
This is where the Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Technique comes into the picture haha. It is a very different form of massage that I've seen before whereby it utilizes rhythmic, light, as well as very precise hand movements, pressures and sequences to influence our body's lymphatic flow's direction and speed. Lots of experiences and skills are required in order to carry out this massage effectively.
Trainer from Go60 was at the event specially to demonstrate and share with us about the MLD Massage.

So what are the benefits of the MLD Massage?

1) Removes Toxins and Keeps Our Body Cells Healthy

By massaging using the MLD massage technique, it helps to boost our body's lymph system in the delivery of nutrients to our body cells and at the same time carry away all the cellular waste and toxins more efficiently.

2) Reduces Facial Puffiness

Through the massage, you'll get to relax your body as well which in turns alleviates fatigue and thereby helps in reducing facial puffiness. The massage is also capable of reducing other types of swelling due to surgeries, injury recoveries and etc.

3) Anti-aging
The massage is able to energize the skin, tissue and nerves to give you a young looking complexion and at the same time relieving stress in your body which can make you feel younger too!!
I had the opportunity to try the massage for a short while and omg man, it's seriously very shiok (relaxing) hahaha. Felt like sleeping after a few minutes into the massage :D
Raw, organic cold-pressed juices from Antidote and kawaii cupcakes were served at the event as well, bringing much real nutrition and cuteness at the same time hehe
That's the end to this post! Be sure to give your body some rejuvenation through the MLD Massage and thank you Hannah for the invite :)

Kawaii Deco Sushi Workshop by Little Miss Bento

Although I know how to cook a dish or two, making kawaii (cute in Japanese) stuff is never my forte. Earlier in the year, I have my first try on making cute bento (lunchbox in Japanese) when I attended Shirley's bento making workshop. Last week, I finally had a chance to hands on to do some kawaii sushi. It was a media preview for Shirley aka Little Miss Bento's second book, Kawaii Deco Sushi!

Internships in Singapore

Has anyone watched the movie, The Internship? It is a beautiful story of how people fight for what they want even when they have passed their opportunities to do so. I have always wondered if there are any internships in Singapore that are as cool as the one in the movie.

Pho Street @ Westgate, enjoying the Vietnamese street delight with nofrill

Originated from Hanoi (Northern Vietnam), Pho is considered the national dish of Vietnam. It reflects the Vietnamese heritage all the way back to the late 1880s. To me, Pho is a comfort food to have, especially during rainy days. We were blessed to be invited to Pho Street for a media tasting about 2 weeks ago to try some dishes available from the new menu. It is a no frills restaurant which aims to serve authentic Vietnamese street food to people from all walks of life.

Newly Launched Facial @ Dr. Benjamin Yim Clinical Aesthetic & LaserCentre

I have heard about how beneficial MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) is to our health. Besides increasing circulation of blood to the areas that were massaged, it can also help with more than 60 different ailments and conditions. Just to name a few, it includes migraine, common acne, constipation, eczema, rheumatoid, sinus congestion and repetitive strain injury. Hence, you can imagine my excitement when I first heard of the newly launched facial, Methode Physiodermie Manual Lymphatic Drainage, @ Dr. Benjamin Yim Clinical Aesthetic & Laser Centre.

With an increasing appetite for Japanese cuisine, it was definitely a timely opportunity for both restauranteurs and diners alike.

Experience the sounds of luxury with JBL, Harman Kardon and AKG

Don't you agree with me that music plays a huge part in your lives. Whether it’s the music that we listen to on the way to work, in the gym or in a symphony or film, it can brighten up our day or even make us feel moody. There are articles stating the health benefits that music provide to our lives. I am very lucky that last week I get to attend an event that opened my eyes to some incredible audio experiences.
