Media Tasting: The Pecking Order X The Entertainer App

From the folks behind Merry Men Kitchen + Bar, The Pecking Order is one of the latest addition to the F&B group. Hidden in an alleyway just off North Canal Road, The Pecking order is a cafe by day and a bar by night serving European inspired food, both in small plates and sharing portions. I am very blessed to join Ian as his plus one for the food tasting event hosted by The Entertainer App.

Cafe Asia 2015 x International Coffee & Tea Industry Expo 2015 @ MBSHall E

As the cafe scene in Singapore gets more and more vibrant, I am so glad that there are more and more interesting events lined up for coffee lovers, aspiring cafe owners and baristas. One of the event happening this week is Cafe Asia 2015 & International Coffee & Tea Industry Expo.

Located at MBS Hall E, the event occupies 5000sqft of the venue featuring more than 100 exhibitors from around the world. On top of that, there are also Gelato World Tour whereby you can sample 16 gelato from the gelato contestants.
One of the highlights is the demo and coffee tasting on yiragarcheff roasted by Tiny Roaster using Kalita Wave.
Check out the space at Knockhouse if you are at Cafe Asia today. Besides serving espresso based coffee from Pacamara, there will be demo on brewing coffee & tea using Steam Punk and more hand brewing coffee from Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee and other coffee roasters.
One of the coffee roasters that caught my eyes is this roaster from Korea which is available in several colours. For home roasters, there are also raw beans suppliers exhibiting here. 😊
Selfie printer
We have heard about the selfie cafe in Penang, for aspiring cafe owners you can get the selfie printer for 5k+ if you are interested.
There are also several tea exhibitors and amongst them, this exhibitor caught my eyes with the beautiful packaging.
One of the highlights of this event is Singapore's first ever National Brewers Cups. I have went for the first 2 days of the event whereby I am totally intrigued by all the different brewing methods used. Today is the finals of the SNBC, I wish all the contestants good luck. It is not winning that you are looking at cos everybody is a winner when you took the first step. The hardest is always stepping out. All the best!
For peeps who wish to attend Cafe Asia, it is open to public from 10am to 5pm today. Coffee lovers can sample coffee from different cafes such as Toby Estate, Maison ikkoku... Etc Catch it before it ends 😊

Food Review: Yaowarat Seafood By Sanook at Serangoon

Teck Chye Terrace
Along the same stretch of shophouses where Ah Seah Eating House (Teochew Porridge) and King Laksa Steamboat are, a new Thai eatery has just recently opened its door. The name Yaowarat has a meaning of young king. However, as Yaowarat road is located at the center of Bangkok's Chinatown, the word "Yaowarat" has came to be commonly known as "Chinatown" to many people. Thus essentially Yaowarat Seafood means Chinatown Seafood. ;)

Closed Door Invite: Paddy Hills @ 38 South Buona Vista Road.

Credit: HungryGoWhere
When I mention South Buona Vista Road (also commonly known as 九十九弯), usually foodies friends will link it to the famous South Buona Vista Road Duck Rice, Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice. However, due to the poor health of the founder, Mr Lim Seng Lee, he ended the business in July 2013.
Good news is at the same 2100 sqft space where the duck rice was, a new F&B establishment, Paddy Hills is opening tomorrow, 3rd March. Gosh, the wall mural drawn by John Fan is like a breath of fresh air to the stretch of old shophouses there and so apt for #ootd. lol I was very blessed to be invited to a casual tasting together with J, Lance and Nicolas.
