Adam Road food centre must eat food review

The advancement of technology has always bring us a lot of convenience which includes lessening the hassle for food hunting. Adam Road Food Centre used to be a location that I irked to travel to as it was not very accessible via public transport and there are limited parking lots. But now it is just 5 minutes walk from Botanic Garden MRT. Awesome max isn't it? For peeps who likes malay or indian local delights, this is where you can find some famous mee soto, nasi lemak and teh halia.

Product Review: Kotex LUXE

There is always a time of the month whereby I feel very insecure and uneasy. The worry of period leakage always make me feel super conscious that I will go to the washroom and check very often. Thus I am always elated to find new products that can set my mind to ease on that special time of the month.

Review: Eu Yan Sang TCM Health Report at Jurong East outlet.

I have always believe that although western medication aids with speedy recovery, to treat our body back to health, we have to treat the roots of the illnesses. This is where Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) comes in. Eu Yan Sang has been around for the longest time but I have only knew it for its huge range of chinese healthcare products. Thus when I heard about Eu Yan Sang TMC customized health report, I decided to pay them a visit to find out more about my current medical condition - I have been feeling very tired recently even though I have more than enough rest.
Up the flight of stairs inside Eu Yan Sang retail outlet in Jurong is where the Eu Yan Sang clinic is located. Just like western GP, one of the clinic assistant helped me with the registration as it was my first visit to the outlet in Jurong.
After which, my blood pressure was being measured. I waited for about 5 minutes before I see the TCM practitioner aka the physician.
After some basic consultation on my regular eating habits, sleeping habits, the physician checked on my pulse and a report was generated.
From the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, our body's constitution can be broadly categorized into 10 types. During my one-to-one personal session with physician Chen Tong Mei, I got to find out about my current dominant body constitution from the Eu Yan Sang Health Report. Besides explaining to me about my body conditions, she has also shared lifestyle changing tips, acupuncture massaging tips and simple recipes that can benefit my wellness.
I was very impressed with the detailed report and how physician Chen Tong Mei shared with me about the TCM knowledge and usage that I have decided to get some TCM medicine to aid in the improvement of my health. Physician Chen Tong Mei has only prescribed 3 days worth of herbal medication for me to try. She was worried that I might be able to take the taste of the herbal medication. I like her thoughtfulness during the consultation as she wasn't pushy and took interest in nursing me back to optimal health.
Emphasizing TCM's natural and preventive approach, there are also various treatments such as acupuncture, cupping, Tui Na (Therapeutic Massage), scrapping, bone setting and chiropractic techniques available in different centres.
Eu Yan Sang operates 32 TCM clinics in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, and one Integrative Medical Centre in Hong Kong. The local team of TCM practitioners are meticulously selected and licensed by Singapore regulatory bodies. In addition, all herbal medication prescribed adheres to strict rules and regulations set by the local authorities in Singapore.
Both external and internal factors can tip the scale of healthy balance of our body. Sub-health issues such as nagging bodyache, chronic fatigue, headaches or poor quality of sleep...etc can occur when this equilibrium is disturbed. Thus if you are suffering health issues which the western medical doctors have no specific diagnosis on, perhaps you can opt to check out Eu Yan Sang TCM Health Report which is having a promotional price of $38 (Usual price $48) from 15 Oct to 31 Dec 2015.  You can now book your appointment online. The service is available at the following outlets:

A girl can never get enough of too many cosmetics, isn't it? In the month of Sept, Etude House has launched a new range of products, the Bling Me Prism collection together with the Curl Fix mascara. For the media launch, a beauty trail was organised for a group of social media influencers and enthusiasts to know about the products. I was blessed to be invited to the media event.

[New] District 10 Bar & Grill at Suntec City

It has been a very long while since I last visited District 10. I remembered how I enjoyed a quiet afternoon at their first outlet at Winstedt road which is now relocated to UE square. Opportunity has arisen for me to revisit District 10 but now at their latest outlet at Suntec (beside Tower 2 office lobby). Things are different now that District 10 has expanded to having 5 different outlets and each has a theme of its own. For Suntec outlet, it is a bar and grill concept with dry aged beef! Any beef lover out there? The holy grail is served here!

[NEW] MOS Cafe at Raffles City Shopping Centre

Recently MOS burger at Raffles City went through a revamp and officially reopened as a new concept store with new menu. I was excited about the idea of having a MOS cafe as MOS burger has always been my preferred choice of fast food over other fast food chain. Inside my mind, I was thinking how cool would that be to have a MOS cafe, something different from the usual MOS Burger setting. But my excitement was short lived, In terms of the interior, MOS Cafe looks rather similar to MOS Burger, not even near to their outlet in Haneda Airport. But never mind, let's check out their menu!
Besides the usual beverage selection, several new items were spotted. Amongst them, we ordered the vegetables smoothie ($3.80) and special fruit tea ($4.50). I would recommend the banana vegetable smoothie to those peeps who loves banana but I do know that this would never be a favourite for me and Sihan. A piece of advice for those who ordered the fruit tea, unless you want to have a whole mouthful of sugar syrup, do stir your fruit tea very very well.
Wagyu Tower Burger ($8.95)
While there is Tokyo Tower in Japan, there is Wagyu Tower Burger specially created for Singapore. To be frank, it feels like an elevated version of the Wagyu Beef Burger which costs $5.15 to $5.25 with a single patty. So if you are one who prefer a double patties wagyu beef burger, go for this. In fact, this is my favourite item for this visit.
Chicken Vegetable Curry ($5.95)
Another item that you wouldn't see at any other MOS Burger outlet. I would say this is a quick fix if you are craving for Japanese Curry. Please note that the keyword is curry. As per seen, it has more gravy than "liao" aka ingredients (chicken chunks, potato, carrot...etc). Nevertheless it is an alternative if you wanted to have some rice instead of burger.
Matcha Mini Parfait ($3.95)
Spotted on the menu is this matcha mini parfait which is priced easy on the pocket. A quick fix to anyone with sweet tooth but I would really prefer it to be less sweet.
Matcha Roll Cake ($4.40)
We ended with a Matcha roll cake which has a promising presentation. But I would like it to be more moist and less sweet. Overall, the desserts are on the sweeter side and I would really advise peeps to bear in mind that this is a fast food joint afterall. So don't have your expectation up too high. Go to MOS Cafe with the same expectation that you will have while going to MOS Burger for maximum enjoyment of your meal. =)
Fun Fact: Just in case you are wondering what does MOS stands:
'M' stands for Mountain - dignified and noble.
'O' stands for Ocean - wide and vast.
'S' stands for sun - vibrant and life-giving.
Have a great week ahead! Cheers!

SOTHYS Hydra3Ha™ Product launch at Redbank Bar & Grill

I am always on a constant struggle and fight with my dehydrated skin. It is always very frustrating to wake up with skin peeling off my face (the sides of my mouth, nose, cheeks or jaw area). Thus I was elated to be invited to the launch of  SOTHYS Hydra3Ha™ Line at Redbank Bar & Grill. An afternoon was spent with the lovely peeps from SOTHYS to learn more about the new range while enjoying some afternoon tea.

Beat the Haze with a proper skincare regime!

Haze has been overcasting our little island for more than a month now. But thank God that the past few days have been relatively clear from haze. To be frank, I hate it. It causes my skin to deteriorate and nothing much can be done to the weather. So I guess it is time to step up on my beauty regime to prevent more breakout!

Pillowy Cafe Pop Up Store at Isetan Scotts

When I first saw Mr Pillowy (the dolls in the above picture) on facebook, I told J that I must visit the Pillowy Cafe. They are so cute right? They are actually the mascot for Pillowy Cafe, a pop up store at Isetan Scott level 2. Pillowy Cafe is originally from Japan with more than 5 outlets across Japan for customization of pillows. Having a good sleep is golden and a good sleep begins with a pillow that fits you well, isn't it? Thus me and J made our way to the Pillowy Cafe just before our trip to Bali.

Churro 101 or Churro 1 for 1?

Better than a boyfriend? A cheeky tagline of Churro 101, a Korean Churro chain that is to be opened its first overseas outlet at Bugis Plus. While I heard of boys are made of snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails (a popular nursery rhyme from the early 19th century), I am quite curious to find out how is churro better than a boyfriend? Why not girlfriend since girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice. =)

Product Review: Essential CC Oil and Essential Night Care Milk

Every year people spend a good amount of hours in the salon in hope to look good. Our crown of glory in fact plays a huge part in letting us feel good. The conditions of our tresses can also be a source of our woes. On a good hair day, my mood is usually better and my feel good factor is higher than usual. However sadly good hair day doesn't occur everyday. Recently, Essential has relaunched its Leave In Treatment range with the brand new CC Oil and Night Care Milk to protect and aid in making our hair more manageable.

鶏金 Torikin @ Crown Centre (Bukit Timah Road)

It is not easy to find decent japanese cuisine after 9pm but Torikin is one of such that you can enjoy decent Japanese cuisine even after 9pm. Torikin is the first restaurant from Ishida Kikaku Group, a restaurant group originating from Fukuoka in Kyushu, to venture overseas serving Hakata-style hotpots, Mizutaki (水炊き). Mizutaki is actually a chicken hotpot which is rich in collagen. So can you imagine how happy I was while tasting it. Collagen boast for my skin. Yay!=D

Italian Espresso Workshop @ Bottura

Suntec City has recently under went a major revamp and is now more inviting with all the new shops. I was actually very happy about it as there are now more new eateries and shops. Bottura is one of the restaurants that is located at Suntec North Wing between Tower 1 & 2. On one of the occasion, I have joined Eleanor for an Italian Espresso Workshop run by Campenelli Vito from Essse Caffe.

The Spiffy Dapper, the edgy, spunky bar with awesome cocktails and delicious meatballs

I have first heard of the Spiffy Dapper aka Dapper Coffee from Sihan, my bar hopping guru, for its awesome cocktails and cold brew coffee. So what's up with having 2 names at one location (73 Amoy St). By day, 73 Amoy is know as Dapper Coffee, a place where you can enjoy unicorn tears and gold brew with sunlight pouring in gently. By night, with the curtains drawn, 73 Amoy Street turns into a copper cadded place known as The Spiffy Dapper, serving customised cocktails. I was blessed to be invited to one of their first media tastings.

Jardin Afternoon Tea Sets from Salt Tapas & Bar (Raffles City ShoppingCentre)

One of the major problems I think many are facing during weekdays is the lack of places to go for high tea. I mean a place that serve decent food with nice ambience. Those with sub-standard food are not included in the list. Recently Salt Tapas & Bar has launched weekday afternoon tea sets. Before we feed our tummy, the afternoon tea set allows us to feast with our eyes. An edible garden was presented in a wooden tray with a chocolate soil, hand-moulded dark chocolate rocks and tree logs and edible flowers together with a mixture of 7 sweet and savoury items. Each set also has a personalised touch of having the name of the guest displayed on the front of each tray. So sweet, right?

Portico's interactive Saturday

There is no lack of restaurants and eateries in Singapore. But to find a family friendly resturant where there is interactive session to engage the diners to another level, there aren't many. Tucked inside a small business park along Alexandra road is this spacious restaurant. Portico, which means porch in Italian and the kitchen is helmed by local chef Nixon Low.

D' Good Cafe's New Menu with Deutsch Skillet Pancake

The recent years have seen a surge in cafes and eateries especially in the western area of Singapore. Located at Holland Village is where one of my favourite cafe D'Good Cafe is. As we walk up a flight of stairs beside The Body Shop, it is like walking into a fairytale setting. There are many corners which are instagram worthy and called for a "OOTD" or a "welfie". I was invited to D' Good Cafe for a private tasting on the new items on its menu.

Choya cooking studio by Spoonful

As the living standards in Singapore start to climb, and also people's heightened awareness to eat clean & healthy, I realised that many people around me are starting to bake and cook. On one of the occasions, I was blessed to be invited to a cooking workshop that I learnt to cook with Choya Umeshu. Yup, you heard me right, cooking with Choya Umeshu.

Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant @ Purvis Street

Clinton St. Bakery has finally set its foot on the sunny shores of Singapore. Rated as "best pancakes" by New York Magazine twice, I was excited to taste the legendary pancakes. Thus on Monday morning, together with Daniel, Nicole and Nicholas, we made our way down to Purvis Street. The location was described to be a match of the vibes of Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant on the Lower East Side of New York City. We reached at about 11am, slightly before the crowd started to stream in, and managed to get a table easily.

Beauty Review: 3D Nails @ Jurong

Sometimes I wonder how many people are like me. I don't like to leave my nails bare (without any nail polish or nail arts), yet always feel that there is no point doing as it doesn't really last. As someone who does housework at time and perpetually being chor lor (not demure in hokkien), my nail polish never last me more than 1 week. Few years ago, I found out about gelish manicure which can last me for a couple of weeks. However, it is always very expensive to do it in Singapore. A simple design like the above could easily set you back by $60 or more. BUT the above is only $45 including nail art! Yes, it is done in Singapore, at 3D Nails.

Food Review: Sunrise Bistro & Bar @ East Coast Park

East Coast Park has always strike me as somewhere very relaxing and a place where I can enjoy some bonding time with my loved ones. Unknown to me, there is a bistro serving casual french cuisine with a contemporary twist and a fine blend of Asian flavours. On days when there are EPL soccer matches, there is also live screening. Awesome isn't it? I am blessed to be invited to a private tasting where I share my love for food with an awesome company.

Food Review: TomYum Lobster - Abb Zabb

I have always craved for the Lobster Tom Yum noodles from Bangkok's famed P' Aor Kuaytiew Tom Yum Goong whenever I am in Thailand. It was almost a dream come true when this dish was finally brought in to Singapore at the newly opened TomYum Lobster- Abb Zabb at Golden Mile Complex.

Product Review: Garden Picks Nut Butter

Peanut allergy is one of the most common food allergies which can cause a severe, potentially fatal, allergic reaction. Thus it is important for people with peanut allergy to avoid peanut. But what is life without peanut butter? Good news to peeps with/ without peanut allergy, there are alternatives available in the market such as almond nut butter, cashew nut butter and macadamia nut butter!

SG50 Singapore Fashion Runway

As a second installment of SG50 Singapore Fashion Runway, Singapore’s First Rooftop Fashion Party was held at Klapsons on a Saturday few weeks ago. The event showcased local designer outfits donned by a total of 125 local models
There was also a RETAIL section at the event where guests could check out the myriad of local designer labels after each show! I am so glad that I get the chance to see the beautiful works of talented local designers here.
Credits: 1214 Alley facebook
One of my favourite piece is the Romayne Floral Dress & Tulle Set from 1214 Alley. It is made of stretchable polyester and cotton with side pockets and can be worn 2 ways! However I was very sad that there isn't a size for me as the label is designed for girls with UK sizes 10 to 16. Hopefully in the near future, they might consider having smaller sizes. =)
The hour long fashion runway allowed me to witness the models sashaying down the red carpet in outfits designed by aspiring designers. From 60’s inspired fashion designs by local label, Noel Caleb to adorable child model showcasing fashion label Little Qipao to Grease from the 70’s comes ALIVE here! Male models shauntered down the runway, donned in bright colours, clothes from the fashionable past by menswear label, PUDU! The night ended with exquisite evening gowns by Singlestitch for Pippin Emerald.

Through various forms of creative expression such as daily wear, statement costumes, special occasion’s attire and even accessories, the showcases symbolize new possible frontiers of Singapore fashion. It aspires to create a world class, Singapore themed fashion statement that will bring a revolutionary outlook on the local fashion scene on an international platform.
